The millstone is a vernacular object that represents th passage from summer to autumn through the harvest and the preparation for the winter.

This object is a perfect interpretation of the cycle of seasons and the nutrition, as well as an artifact of the mediterranean bucolic tradition. Depending the savoir-faire of the artisan and the functional requirements of the object, the stone cutting appears to be both rough or highly refined, likewise the chiseled and machined pieces in bronze, that complete the mixed aesthetic of this hand millstone. Protected and just glimpsed, the sixty grooves on the wheels with their circular movement are an open reference to the art of telling time.

The project was designed for the exhibition Arts & Crafts & Design: Time according to ECAL & Swiss Craftsmen presented by Vacheron Constantin, curated by Studio Formafantasma, that took place during the Milan Design Week 2015. The project was realized in collaboration with the Swiss artisans Luca Bellei (stone) and Juan Sebastian Galan Bello (bronze)
